SWCDs are a political subdivision of state government. The Henry County SWCD has five supervisors and two associate supervisors. Programs and activities of the SWCD are overseen by the supervisors. Two supervisors are appointed by the State Soil Conservation Board based on recommendations made by the SWCD and three supervisors are elected at the Annual Meeting.
The purpose of the Henry County Soil & Water Conservation District is to provide information about soil, water, and related natural resource conservation; identify and prioritize local soil and water resource concerns; and connect land users to sources of educational, technical and financial assistance to implement conservation practices and technologies.
The Henry County SWCD board of supervisors meet the forth Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the SWCD office. Board meetings are open to the public.
