Hoosier Riverwatch Volunteer Basic Training Workshop
We had a full class for our free water monitoring training workshop held at Memorial Park in New Castle on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 . If you missed it and are interested, we're planning another training day with Hoosier Riverwatch in September. Classes are limited to 20 for one-on-one instruction.

Rain Barrel Workshop at the New Castle Public Library
organized by Three Rivers Solid Waste Management District and supported by Henry County SWCD and the Big Blue River Watershed Project
The word about the many benefits of rain barrels is spreading! There was a great turnout and a huge interest in these barrels at the workshop on July 19, 2010. JoAnne McCorkle, Carole Yeend from Rush County Solid Waste Management District, Debi Simmonds and Pam Adkins from New Castle Public library all did a wonderful job putting this event together! Thanks to Jeff Ray for helping with the construction.

All of the equipment was supplied to the participants to put their rain barrel together.

JoAnne gave a brief introduction and shared the benefits of rain barrels.

Look at these pros! Lee Ann Wallen and Kathy Rogers were excited to get going on construction and get their barrels home!
71st Annual Mooreland Free Fair (August 9-14)

HOT! HOT! HOT! Members from the Henry County SWCD, Big Blue River Watershed Steering Committee and Friends of the Big Blue River manned our booth. They passed out free fliers/frisbees and much needed cups to passersby. They raffled off a rain barrel to raise money for the watershed project and also raffled a Marsh gift card with completed surveys for the project. These surveys will give us an indication of our education and outreach efforts with the project. Thanks so much everyone, Kellie especially, for helping out!
